All about Veterinary Physiotherapy

All About Me

From a young age, I have been passionate about the health and happiness of horses and dogs. I am dedicated to enhancing the physical and mental well-being of all animals I treat to help improve their overall quality of life.

I am also a qualified human sports massage therapist who specializes in treating sporting injuries and enhancing performance, working especially hard to improve horse and rider combinations.

In addition to my work as a veterinary physiotherapist, I offer Winback radiofrequency therapy to both horses and dogs.

I currently hold a Bsc (hons) degree in Veterinary Physiotherapy and am a Level 6 qualified and fully insured practitioner. I also hold a Level 3 small animal hydrotherapy OFQAUL qualification.

What is Veterinary Physiotherapy?

A woman feeding a brown horse outdoors near a wooden fence.

Like any athlete, regular quality care is essential to enhance performance, promote comfort, and reduce the risk of strain and injury. Veterinary physiotherapy focuses on treating injuries, conditions, and deformities using holistic methods such as manual therapy, electrotherapies, and remedial exercise prescription to help improve an animal's overall quality of life.

Who can benefit from physiotherapy?

Much like human physiotherapy, any animal can benefit from animal physiotherapy. This includes golden oldies needing extra help to perform daily tasks, as well as family pets to animals recovering from injury, and or working animals that require performance enhancement to compete effectively. Routine treatments from a veterinary physiotherapist can help reduce the risk of injury, boost performance, and overall optimize animal welfare.

All About Veterinary Consent

As per the Veterinary Surgeons Exemptions Order 2015, physiotherapeutic treatment of pre-existing conditions requires consent from a veterinary surgeon before treatment can occur. If your animal has an existing pathology, please contact me so I can get in touch with the vet for consent.

Under new regulations (RCVS, Section 19.24, November 2020), physiotherapy for the purpose of maintenance in healthy animals does not require consent from a veterinary surgeon.
