During an initial assessment
- Clinical case history will be gathred alongisde veterinary consent prior to the appointment.
- A Static and dynamic evaluation will be carried out consisting of walk, trot, circles, and backing up.
Some equine assessments may include lunging and ridden exercise.
Palpation is performed to feel for any signs of pain, heat and inflammation. This helps to assess the state of a tissue and the tone it may be presenting with whether it be high, low
or damaged.
Joint range of movement is also performed to check the flexibility and mobility within an joint. Whilst testing for any joint restrictions or patholagies.
- Soft tissue release
- Manual therapy
- Trigger point therapy
-Myofascial release
-Accupressure
- Joint mobilisations
- Active & Passive stretching
-Range of electrotherpies that can help increase comfort and accelerate healing.
An individualistic care plan is tailored to each patient after treatment. This may recommend environmental changes and remedial exercise prescription to help facilitate rehabilitation and help to enhance muscular strength and maintain mobility.
Laser therapy uses focused light energy to interact with tissue to help relieve pain, reduce inflammation and repair tissue function.
Thermotherapy (also called heat therapy) uses heat to treat pain and promote healing in muscles, joints, and soft tissues.
The increased blood flow leads to more oxygen and nutrients reaching the area to speed up healing.
PEMFT uses pulsed electromagnetic fields to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes at the cellular level.
This Sends low-frequency electromagnetic pulses into the body.
These pulses penetrate cells, tissues, and bones without being invasive.
They stimulate cellular activity and improve the function of cell membranes.
TECAR therapy (Transfer of Energy Capacitive and Resistive) is a type of deep heat therapy that uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate healing in soft tissues and joints. RF Uses high-frequency electrical currents (usually around 300 kHz to 1 MHz)
that delivers energy deep into tissues without damaging the surface this then produces internal heat, which helps to Increase blood flow, boosts metabolism and reduce pain and inflammation. Helping lead to accelerated tissue repair.
A Theragun is a handheld device that delivers rapid, repetitive pulses (percussions) deep into your muscles. This type of therapy is also called percussive or vibration therapy. This helps to relieve pain, reduce muscle soreness, and improve mobility.
Therapeutic ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves (typically 1–3 MHz) to treat muscle, tendon, ligament, and joint conditions. The device generates sound waves that are applied through a handheld wand (transducer) and gel on the skin. The sound waves penetrate deep into tissues and cause microscopic vibrations. This leads to thermal and non-thermal effects that help to promote healing and breakdown adhesions.
